Land-Sea Interaction
The Land-Sea Interaction Program seeks to understand the physical processes responsible for coastal evolution at multiple temporal and spatial scales, particularly in the face of climate change. Centennial scale changes to beaches, barrier islands, and spits have been studied through multiple projects. Decadal to seasonal changes in beaches, inlets, and estuaries have also been documented. As the climate changes, sea levels rise, and storminess increases, our understanding of coastal evolution is increasingly imperative, especially for the future resilience of coastal communities.
