In recognition of World Ocean Day on June 8th, the Center for Coastal Studies Marine Debris & Plastics Program will host another “adventure cleanup” at Wood End in Provincetown, followed by a Trash Tally at the CCS Hiebert Marine Lab.

In early April, the Center was joined by students from Cornell University to conduct a cleanup of Long Point and Wood End, and staged several caches of debris for eventual removal by boat.

On June 8th, participants will cross the breakwater to access Wood End and load the collected debris onto awaiting boats, working at high tide to facilitate safe and efficient removal of the trash.

Once returned to the mainland, all debris will be tallied and documented after which it can be disposed of, recycled, or repurposed for use by artists or fishermen.
