Provincetown Film Society & Center for Coastal Studies team up for second annual Planet Ptown Environmental Film Series featuring INUNDATION DISTRICT, IN THE WHALE and RESCUING OUR OCEANS THROUGH RECYCLED ART.

The Provincetown Film Society and the Center for Coastal Studies present an environmental film series on Earth Day weekend (April 20, 21 & 22) that offers three documentaries made in Massachusetts related to the ocean, climate change and citizen science. All screenings are followed by a conversation with filmmakers and/or scientists. Planet Ptown screenings will take place at the Water’s Edge Cinema, 237 Commercial Street, Provincetown,

The series begins Saturday, April 20 at 11am with the new documentary, INUNDATION DISTRICT directed by David Abel and Ted Blanco. The film looks at rising seas and the implications of one city’s decision to ignore the threats posed by climate change and spend billions of dollars building a new waterfront district – on landfill and at sea level. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker David Abel.

David Abel returns Sunday, April 21 at 11am to present and discuss his 2023 documentary, IN THE WHALE, “the greatest (true) fish story ever told”. The movie details the account of Michael Packard’s experience of being swallowed by a whale, and what happened to him after being spit out.

RESCUING OUR OCEANS THROUGH RECYCLED ART by Johnny Bergmann explores how Cape Cod artists have come together to create art out of detritus in an effort to bring awareness to what individuals can do to help. It screens Monday at 7pm followed by a conversation with the filmmaker and scientists from the Center for Coastal Studies.

Admission to individual films is $20 for the general public and $15 for PFS and CCS members. Tickets on sale at www.provincetownfilm.org/cinema/planet-ptown/.
