SUMMARY:May Day in the RipRap Beach Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Join the CCS Beach Brigade for our annual May Day in the RipRap cleanup this year slated for Friday\, May 1\, 2026\, in the East End of Provincetown. \nThis exposed shoreline is stabilized with tons of granite rock rip-rap which traps debris at every high tide. \nDate may change because of unforeseen circumstances. Details will be sent to all registered volunteers as the cleanup date approaches. \nCLEANUP \n\n\nDate: Friday\, May 1st\, 2026\nTime: 2pm – 4pm\n\nLocation: Provincetown East End (across from the Harbor Hotel at Snail Road) \nNO TRASH TALLY \nMuch of what we find in the rip-rap must be cut out with sharp knives in order to extricate\, which prevents us from tallying by count. We’ll weigh the overall debris and add that to our database\, instead. \n\n\nClick here to register for the cleanup.

SUMMARY:Ecosystems & Imagination | Resiliency Futurism and Cape Cod Coastal Geology Panel
DESCRIPTION:This Twenty Summers event at Provincetown’s Hawthorne Barn is part of Ecosystems & Imagination presented by CCS Scientist/Artist in Residence Mark Adams and in partnership with the Center for Coastal Studies. \nCoastal Landforms that make up the outer Cape are a constant work-in-progress (in glacial time and anthropogenic time). What do scientists know about sand movement and erosion? What are the mechanisms of barrier beaches\, tidal estuaries\, coastal cliffs and plains? \nHow do we face worries about plastics\, ghost gear\, ocean acidification and warming waters? \nWhat are the big ideas for storm response and long term adaptation? How can we imagine the future fabric of town coastal landscapes? \n$20 Suggested Donation\nTicketing opens April 17 at noon ET. \nClick here for more information and to register.

SUMMARY:Ecosystems & Imagination | Provincetown Harbor Walk with Mark Adams
DESCRIPTION:This Twenty Summer event is part of Ecosystems & Imagination presented by CCS Scientist/Artist in Residence Mark Adams and in partnership with the Center for Coastal Studies.  The field trip will meet at Center for Coastal Studies Kiosk at MacMillan Pier. \nExploring Provincetown Harbor on a falling tide\, we’ll look at storm tide pathways\, the historic shoreline / public trust boundary (Chapter 91) and compare the adapting townscape to historic photos. Can we trace the limits of our storm tides and sea level predictions? What would resiliency look like? \n$20 Suggested Donation\nTicketing opens April 17 at noon ET. \nClick here for info and tickets.
