DESCRIPTION:An inspiring art exhibition at the Provincetown Bookshop shines light on 50 years of research at the Center for Coastal Studies. Curated by CCS Scientist/Artist in Residence Mark Adams\, the All Town Open Call Art Exhibition currently includes 55 artworks by about 50 artists and continues to grow. \nThe art on display is a visual banquet of images\, ranging from a poignant black and white photo of a whale stranding on a Wellfleet beach by scientist/artist Alexis Doshas\, to a series of zooplankton drawings in ink by scientist Agnes Mittermayer. Other works include a carved wood sculpture that evokes sand ripples by Cole Cook\, a large textile of woven beach debris rope by Clinton Van Gemert\, and a shadow box of oystercatcher foot prints by Audrey Luster\, and much more. \n

Local and legendary characters include a Siren-Muse of the sea\, the Navigator-Harbormaster\, a Geologist\, the Captain\, a Wise Cuttlefish\, world navigator Jeanne Socrates\, able seaman Billy Budd\, treasure hunter Jim Hawkins\, and a couple of sly clammers. \nAn hour and twenty minutes of music\, readings and dialogue about the future of our coast and ocean\, performed by singer-songwriter Kat Wright\, cellist Parker Ousley\, drummer Jo Hay\, operatic baritone Colin Levin\, accompanied by Josiah Mayo\, with esteemed actors\, Katie Castagno\, Nick Wilson and Katie Pentedemos\, Alston Brown and Mark Adams. Local and legendary characters include a Siren-Muse of the sea\, the Navigator-Harbormaster\, a Geologist\, the Captain\, a Wise Cuttlefish\, world navigator Jeanne Socrates\, able seaman Billy Budd\, treasure hunter Jim Hawkins\, and a couple of sly clammers. \nAn hour and twenty minutes of music\, readings and dialogue about the future of our coast and ocean\, performed by singer-songwriter Kat Wright\, cellist Parker Ousley\, drummer Jo Hay\, operatic baritone Colin Levin\, accompanied by Josiah Mayo\, with esteemed actors\, Katie Castagno\, Nick Wilson and Katie Pentedemos\, Alston Brown and Mark Adams. DESCRIPTION:Artists transform rescued buoys from Center for Coastal Studies into beautiful works of art for auction fundraiser to benefit Prez Hall. A live and silent auction will be held featuring reclaimed buoys rescued from the oceans thanks to the Center for Coastal Studies. Local artists have transformed these pieces of marine debris into imaginative works of art\, each telling a story of creativity and our enduring connection to the sea. \nA major highlight of the evening will be a presentation from Laura Ludwig\, the Director of the Marine Debris and Plastics Program at the Center for Coastal Studies. Laura leads large-scale grassroots beach cleanups\, tracks pollution sources\, and organizes the removal of derelict “ghost” fishing gear from the ocean. She’ll discuss the growing challenges and importance of protecting our coastal environments \nLive music by Jordan Renzi & Friends\, arts and crafts table\, family friendly.
