Lecture: How Cape Cod Was Created
October 1 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Throughout October, the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore offer a speaker series called Sustaining Cape Cod. The series begins with Center for Coastal Studies coastal geologist Dr. Mark Borrelli, who directs our Land and Sea Mapping Program, giving a talk titled, “The Creation of Cape Cod: Its Geologic History and Present-day Coastal Processes and Climate Change.”
He will explore how Cape Cod got its characteristic shape and how present-day coastal processes have affected its ongoing evolution. He will also highlight current research and discuss how storms and sea level rise are changing the coast today and what to expect into the future. Dr. Borrelli is also the Director of the Coastal Processes and Ecosystem Laboratory (CaPELab).
