Marine Science Illustration Workshop

$275 – $325We are delighted to offer another opportunity to discover and develop your artistic skills with award-winning marine science illustrator David Wheeler.
The Marine Science Illustration Workshop will cover all branches of science, with a special emphasis on marine species. The workshop is designed for maximum drawing opportunity, with three hours of instruction in the morning and three hours in the afternoon. There will also be time allocated for fieldwork, with lots of opportunities for exploration and collection.
This workshop is open to everyone aged 16 and up. No previous experience is required, and all art materials will be supplied at no cost.

About the Instructor
David Wheeler, B.F.A, M.F.A., is an award winning illustrator/model maker whose work is in the permanent collections of marine centers, universities, labs, and natural science museums across the U.S. A veteran instructor, David has taught at the State University of New York’s Empire State College, the Pratt Institute’s satellite campus at Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute, and seven other colleges and universities.
He draws for the National Park Service, labs, estuary preserves, and marine sites, and has traveled to Alaska 13 times to work with the indigenous people, courtesy of Arts Alaska, the State Arts Council. He has also made life-sized dinosaurs for the American Museum of Natural History in NY and Osaka, Japan.
David is in the forefront of the art/science movement and that of STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, though he claims that he’s not very good in Math!
