On June 8, World Ocean Day, individuals and organizations across the globe join together to celebrate the briny waters that cover 71% of our beautiful blue planet. For 24 hours, people are reminded that, no matter where they live, their daily activities impact the ocean, for better or for worse.
Here at the Center for Coastal Studies, we are doing everything we can EVERY DAY to protect our coastal and marine environment, both for the life that dwells on, in and below the water, and for those on land who depend on a healthy ocean to produce the oxygen that we breath, regulate Earth’s climate, and sustain the millions of people who depend on the ocean for daily sustenance.
But it’s not always easy. Our equipment gets worn out or breaks. New technology that enhances the quality of our data collection is costly. And it’s becoming increasingly difficult to secure funding for the mundane items that keep our operations running smoothly on a daily basis. So our staff have put together an Ocean Day Wishlist of items that will make their work easier and safer.
We hope that you can make a gift to CCS to help maintain the wellbeing of our staff and the quality of our work. As a friend of CCS, we know that you too are working EVERY DAY to protect the ocean, and we appreciate your efforts more than we can say. Thank you for everything that you for CCS and for the ocean!
