    Coastal Studies Homeport Banquet Set
November 10 event to benefit Hiebert fellowship

(Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA) - Friends and supporters of the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies (PCCS) will gather on November 10 at the Lobster Pot Restaurant for the organization's first Homeport Banquet.

To many who attended the Center's "trash fish" banquets years ago, meant to popularize fish species which today are commonplace, the November 10 event should evoke many fond memories.

"In true Trash Fish tradition, the Homeport Banquet will be informal, community-oriented, geared to the more relaxed fall season, and affordably priced to encourage as many participants as possible," says Janet E. Young, deputy director.

Tickets are $45 per person with cocktails served at 6 p.m., and dinner at 7 p.m., at the Lobster Pot, 321 Commercial Street. All are welcome and non-members who attend will receive a special discounted membership should they choose to join the Center at the dinner.

This year, proceeds from the banquet will go toward a fellowship for an exceptional female science scholar associated with the Center. The fellowship will be named for the late Ruth Hiebert, a former PCCS board member and key patron who passed away last year. Pauline Kamath, who is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in genetics at Berkeley, will be the first recipient of the Hiebert Fellowship. From 2002 through 2004, Pauline was research assistant to Jooke Robbins, director of the Center's humpback whale program.

"We want to make this an annual event that everyone associated with the Center, and with Provincetown, and Ruth, can be proud of," Young adds.

For more information about the Inaugural banquet to benefit a scholarship in Ruth's memory, please call PCCS at: (508) 487-3622 x101 by October 28.
