Gulf of Maine humpback whale satellite tagging: 2015

Our humpback whale satellite tagging study is currently underway.  The goal of this on-going work is to evaluate the effectiveness and impacts of satellite tagging on humpback whales.  It is also providing new information on movement and habitat use in the Gulf of Maine.  Further details about this research can be found here.  Tracks of the whales tagged will be shown below for educational purposes as they become available.  Positions will be reported on a lagged basis and not all fixes are mapped. Please observe our terms of use.
