Napi’s Lecture: The Seasonal Diet of Harbor and Gray Seals in SE MA
April 25 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The Center for Coastal Studies presents “The Seasonal Diet of Harbor and Gray Seals in Southeastern Massachusetts” by Lisa Sette on Wednesday, April 25 at 7 pm at Napi’s Restaurant, Provincetown.
Lisa will present preliminary results of work underway with colleagues at Louisiana State University and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute that investigates harbor and gray seal diet in Southeastern Massachusetts.
CCS, in conjunction with IFAW and NEFSC, began sampling for this study in 2016. They focused on harbor and gray seal haul-outs inside Cape Cod Bay, on outer beaches, in Pleasant Bay and on South Monomoy Island.
The goal of this work is to expand on what is known of the seasonal diet of seals in southeastern Massachusetts inshore waters.
Lisa is a biologist at the Center for Coastal Studies and is founding member of the Northwest Atlantic Seal Research Consortium (NASRC). This research is funded by the Island Foundation, the Friends of Pleasant Bay and the continued support of the Center for Coastal Studies.
This free presentation is part of the Center for Coastal Studies’ Winter Lecture Series, which is supported by Napi’s Restaurant at 7 Freeman Street in Provincetown. Participants are encouraged to arrive at 5 pm and enjoy Napi’s special early bird dinner!
