7th Biennial Nantucket Biodiversity Initiative Research Conference
November 3 - November 5$25
The Conference, coordinated by the Nantucket Biodiversity Initiative (NBI), provides an opportunity to share the results of research being conducted on Nantucket and surrounding areas with other researchers and the public.
The event opens at 1 pm on Friday with a guided walk with Keynote Speaker Professor Richard Primarck. The Keynote Address is presented at 7 pm at Nantucket Atheneum.
The Conference itself takes place on Saturday, November 4 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm at The Nantucket Hotel; one of the featured presenters is Mark Borrelli, Director of the Center for Coastal Studies Seafloor Mapping Program.
A post-conference social follows at 5 pm.
The weekend ends on Sunday morning with a hike through Nantucket wetland and forest ecosystems led by Peter Brace, Nantucket author, naturalist and owner of Nantucket walkabout.
The goal (NBI) Research Program is to increase knowledge of understudied taxonomic groups and of the overall biodiversity of Nantucket, Tuckernuck, Muskeget and surrounding waters. The NBI facilitates collaboration, research and data storage and sharing between on and off-island researchers, conservation interests and the general public.
Open to the public, advanced registration required! Registration fee of $25 supports NBI research grants. Registrants under 18 receive free admission.
